Crosswalk between ICD-9 and ICD-10The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) created the GEMs as a tool for the conversion of data from ICD-9-CM to ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS and vice versa.
Watch a short YouTube movie and see how easy it is to crosswalk between ICD-9 and ICD-10 using GEM with ICD10Doc.
1. Using the GEM, ICD10Doc maps each ICD-9 diagnosis or procedure code to its ICD-10 counterpart, and vice versa
2. Once a code is selected, whether ICD-9 or ICD-10, below the details on the lower part of the screen you may find the equivalent code(s) according to GEM.
Note that the relationship between one coding system to the other may be many-to-many and still, sometimes there is no mapping between ICD-9 and ICD-10.
